The 'Dew' Story

Where it all began

In May of 1966, Pat, Jimmy, and Fay White opened the Dew Drop Inn in Derby, quickly earning a reputation as the go-to spot for homemade meals and a cold beer. For decades, they served the community, creating a beloved neighborhood hangout. From 1998 to 2006, the bar changed hands a few times, but its next chapter truly began when Jay Carlucci, a native New Yorker with no prior bar experience, purchased the Dew Drop and met his now wife, Kenna, who was working there at the time.

Jay & Kenna

In 2006, Jay Carlucci, along with an investor—both from New York and with no experience in the restaurant business—took a leap and purchased the Dew Drop Inn, in Derby. At the time, Kenna Yanarella, now Kenna Carlucci, was working at the bar. In 2008, Kenna bought out Jay’s partner, and together, she and Jay reimagined the bar’s future. Combining their ideas and resources, they transformed the Dew Drop into a local favorite known for its award-winning wings, local craft beer, and a friendly, laid-back vibe.
